WEBSITE PRIVACY

What this site collects.

This page is about useinline.dev — the pages you are reading now. The product has its own policy, and the two are separate on purpose.

Last updated 27 September 2026. Written plainly rather than legally: it is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. If it disagrees with what the site actually does, the site is wrong and we want to know.

Nothing is collected until you say yes

No analytics run on your first visit. You are asked once, and until you answer, no analytics script is loaded, no analytics cookie is set and no request is made to PostHog. Declining is not a downgrade: every page behaves identically either way, and you are not asked again.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, that is taken as a no. You are not shown the question at all, because you have already answered it.

If you allow it

We use PostHog to count visits. It records:

  • Which pages were viewed, in what order, and for roughly how long
  • Clicks on links and buttons, by their visible text
  • Approximate location from your IP address — country and region, never a street
  • Browser, operating system, screen size, and the page that referred you
  • A random identifier — a string like 0192f3a1-…, kept in a cookie and in your browser's local storage, so two visits can be told apart

It is generated at random and is not linked to a name, an email or an account. Nothing on this site asks you for any of those.

Session replay

We also record a replay of the visit: a reconstruction of what the page looked like and what you clicked or scrolled, so we can see where these pages confuse people. It is rebuilt from the page's own structure rather than filmed, and two things are held back from it deliberately:

  • Anything you type is masked — every input, on every page, without exception.
  • The home page funnel is blocked entirely. It appears in the replay as an empty box. Which systems you pick, which process you choose, who you say may run it: none of it is in the recording.

The home page questions

The home page asks you a series of questions — which systems your work happens in, which process matters, who should be allowed to run it. Those answers are worth being exact about, because there are two different things in them.

  • Your answers are never sent. Not the systems, not the process, not the rule. They are held in your browser to draw the next step and are gone when you close the tab. The section is excluded from click tracking and from session replay, so there is no indirect route either.
  • Two things about your progress are. Which of the two doors you picked — "I use software" or "I offer software" — and how far through the ten steps you got. That is it: a door and a number. We use it to find out which half of the page is working and where people give up.

We also record how far down each page you scroll, in quarters.

What is not collected, on any visit

  • Nothing from inside the product. Session replay runs on this website only. If you sign in at app.useinline.dev, none of this follows you — that application sends nothing to PostHog at all.
  • No profile. PostHog is configured never to build a person record, so there is nothing to enrich, merge, or sell.
  • No advertising or cross-site tracking. There are no ad-network tags, no pixels, and nothing here follows you elsewhere.
  • Not your answers on the home page. The questions there — which systems you use, which process matters, who may run it — are excluded from capture entirely. The page says those answers stay in your browser, and they do: clicking through the whole thing sends no events at all, which is not the default and had to be built.

Where it goes

PostHog processes this in the United States, as our data processor. The site itself is served by Google Firebase Hosting, which keeps standard request logs as any web server does. Every page also loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees your network address and browser when it does. That happens on every visit, whether or not you allow analytics, because the fonts are part of the page.

Changing your mind

Clearing this site's cookies and site data resets the question, and you will be asked again on your next visit. Declining then also deletes the identifier from any earlier visit, rather than leaving it behind — withdrawing consent should undo something, not just stop adding to it.

The product is separate

Everything above is about this website. If you sign in and connect an account, what Inline stores on your behalf is a different question with a different answer — accounts, credentials, and a record of every call an agent makes. That is covered by the product privacy policy, alongside the terms.
